Client Information

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on businesses who cannot welcome customers in their stores. This team has successfully worked on the mechanical side of the drone as well as the automated navigation and database needed for their systems. However they are missing a few key elements necessary for complete safety of their drones. Your task is to create an add-on system to the existing drone structure which will address one of the following needs. The system must connect to the existing operator web app to receive data or you can create your own application which will relay the information to the operators.

  • A violent shake alarm that detects relatively violent movements in the package

  • A climate sensor that relays the temperature and humidity status of the contents of the drone.

  • An emergency beacon to alert operators of a downed drone and to alert nearby individuals to report it (and how) and to not touch the drone (a technician is on the way).

  • An anti-theft system should the drone deviate from anticipated path

  • An additional option is a front end application for businesses to interact with the system (add menu choices, fulfill orders, etc)

Past attempts
Students from Fall 2020 have worked on a project for the same client involving a front end application for customers, you can find their attempts here: https://makerepo.com/project_proposals/141
