DESCRIPTION
For years, experts in cognitive behaviour and psychologist have been developing techniques to teach empathy. To teach empathy, one must put themselves in other people’s shoes. Therefore, there is a need for a learning tool using virtual reality to enhance and foster empathy by allowing users to experience the lives of minority groups. As a solution, our team presented a real story utilizing the unique affordance of virtual reality (VR) that allows users to walk a virtual mile in the shoes of another. The VR experience is provided with different levels of interactivity with a different outcome, so the players are free to decide their moves. The cost of this project was 50$. The users will experience racism and respond to it appropriately. The main purpose of the project is to enhance empathy and raise the awareness of equity.
