At SVH, Every room is equipped with an emergency call bell. Patients can activate the call bell to receive assistance from the nurse. In some cases, patients might need help with smaller and much simpler tasks such as picking up items, assistance to push their wheelchair, or even changing TV channels. Volunteers at the hospital are glad to help with these tasks allowing for quicker nurse response time for patients with serious emergencies.

Having an independent call bell system for volunteers will grant the patients the help they need while allowing the hospital to be more efficient. This system must not interfere with the nurses call bell and it must be able to send a signal/room number from the patient's devices (laptops and tablets) to a receiver in the volunteer centre.
