Contexte du projet

Each year, the University of Ottawa dumps thousands of kilograms of salt on campus to prevent slips and falls, and to make the campus accessible in winter. Looking at alternatives to salt, one of the most promising solutions seems to be heated sidewalks. They use surprisingly little energy and can completely remove all ice and snow. Unfortunately, there are downsides, the most important being that these systems are expensive to install and once they fail, the sidewalk must be destroyed to replace it.

Your task is to try to design a modular or rollable sidewalk that can be deployed in winter and removed in summer. It should be made from lightweight materials, it should be able to connect to existing services, and it should provide adequate traction in winter. Ideally, it should be economical to produce and is only turned on when needed.

Tentatives précédentes
There has been one previous attempt with an accessibility focus however the concept needs to be improved and detailed. You can find their attempt here: https://makerepo.com/project_proposals/73.
