Hydroponics is a new trend that is becoming more and more popular. It is used to grow food or herbs and promotes the local food service industry. Parkdale Food Center's mission is to build healthier, more connected neighbours and neighbourhoods through good food, innovative community partnerships, and by challenging inequalities in order to create lasting impacts. They are teaching good food and financial literacy to youth, teaching business skills, skills that are transferable to business. One of the ways they do this is by involving kids and the community in growing food from hydroponic units to then market themselves and sell it. Currently they purchase hydroponic infrastructures from multi level marketing companies and other models that we are testing. From the inception of Growing Futures, it has been part of their business plan to create their own design.

PFC is expanding and is in need of a modular grow wall that can be installed in various places like schools or community centers and can be moved and maintained easily.
