The purpose of the sensory chair is to allow those with disabilities or growth defects to be more comfortable and help sleeping. As our customers will much of their time sitting on the chair, we want to create a chair that allows the user to remain comfortable and relaxed for a long period of time. This is accomplished by structuring the chair to accommodate a variety of sitting and laying positions, notably on the users front and back. First, we coded the motor to change the direction and speed of the motor through an Arduino Micontoller. This motor is placed at the centre of the base of the chair and is attached to the chair itself. The rocking system works by using a gear that pulls along a chain, pulling the chair with it. A spring was added to keep chain tension, allowing for smooth and consistent rocking.
