We are building a bat box and programming a tracker to help identify the amount of bats using the box. Our prototype box which is made out of laser cut MDF and our button sensor that uses an Arduino, an LD screen, and a long-lasting battery, will give a small scale but accurate representation of our solution. Our combined knowledge and our different skills makes gives us a unique perspective and ideas to help come up with a solution and help our client and the ecosystem. There is a need for bats to be tracked to further our understanding of the effectiveness of bat boxes to improve conservation efforts, and we the Hardy Oaks plan to be a part of this solution.
