




DESCRIPTION
A need exists for nuclear reactor operators to safely and easily collect a sample from the inside of a metal pipe with a man-portable tool that is fail-safe, keeps the sample clean for lab analysis, and indicates its status to the operator.
Our goal is to innovate a new method for the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories to collect a metal sample from 15 feet inside of a pipe/tube. The solution we have come up with incorporates a leadscrew mechanism, motor operation, and man-portable design to efficiently and safely collect the sample within a budget of $100.
