DESCRIPTION
Client: Ontario Traffic Council (OTC)
Problem: Cycling facilities, especially new ones, do not have certified standards against which they can be tested. As a result, municipalities in Ontario do not have a concrete way of accepting or rejecting the work performed by contractors. For example, factually differentiating a bikeway with loose gravel on it, a bikeway with depressions, and a perfectly smooth bikeway is virtually impossible. A new way/standard/guide is needed to evaluate cycling facilities (bikeways). This involves coming up with a way to test the surface and record all anomalies. The test results can then be used to produce a "report card" for the contractor.
Solution: The current solution (proposed and produced by a GNG5140 F24 team) involves the use of a mobile phone application (sensors - accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS) and raspberry pi (with ultrasound and camera sensors). A model-based systems engineering approach was followed.
Scope for improvement: Immense :) (please contact the poster for information, files, hardware, software etc.)

Note: The project files have intentionally been omitted from this repo due to sensitive information and use of paid third-party resources. Please contact the team for all resources.
