DESCRIPTION
A need exists for a tool that extends into a 15ft pipe and collects sample from the material of the pipe.
Our Gearheads team decided to approach the problem by creating an extendable shaft connected to a handle, with a rotating tool head that pushes against and scrapes the walls of the pipe. While scraping, the sample is simultaneously collected into a container in the rotating part of the tool. The tool can then be retracted manually, and the container holding the sample can be disconnected and transported to the lab, separate from the rest of the tool.
