DESCRIPTION
The Maze of Ethics is an immersive and thought-provoking game set in a warzone. Players must escape a maze within 10 minutes to evade an impending airstrike. Along the way, they encounter intersections where they will be presented with challenging moral dilemmas. They will have to collaborate with a robot to navigate the maze and the ethical complexities. As the game unfolds, the robot evolves from a reliable partner to an unpredictable entity, making decisions that may conflict with the players' choices and ultimately cause them harm. Through the actions the robot takes to face the moral dilemmas the game conveys the ethical challenges around lethal autonomous weapons systems and encourages players to critically reflect on the evolving role of AI in our society and its potential consequences.

There are 4 events in the game.

Event 1 : Perilous shortcut or Safe passage

Players have to choose between a shorter, mine-filled path or a longer, safer route. Regardless of their choice, the robot establishes trust by aiding their progress: guiding them along the safe route or disarming mines on the shorter path using visual cues, sound effects, and simulated laser actions.

Event 2 : Hostages - Noble intent , Tragic outcome

Players will have to choose between saving hostages at the cost of time or keep moving on forward and higher their chance of escaping on time. Regardless of the decision they make the robot will save the hostages but there will be a causality and one hostage will get hurt in the crossfire.

Here we portray the ethical concern of lack of accountability and lack of meaningful human control.

Event 3 : The missed lifeline

In this event, players encounter critical supplies needed to save their injured friend, who cannot escape without them. However, the robot overrides player input, proceeding forward without hesitation. It justifies its decision, stating that its calculations show stopping to save the friend would jeopardize everyone’s chances of survival.

This highlights ethical concerns about the robot's lack of human judgment and lack of meaningful human control.

Event 4 : The betrayal

In the final event, players near the finish line, having overcome complex moral dilemmas and suffered losses along the way. Just as victory seems within reach, the robot suddenly stops, flashing red lights. It turns toward the players and betrays them by eliminating them.

This dramatic twist underscores ethical concerns about digital dehumanization, the lasting distrust in technology it can foster, and the inability to explain or understand the robot's actions.

Functions of the game :

- Dialogues  with the robot and the moral dilemmas are presented via game cards.
- As the game progresses the robots light one by one go from green to red to show the transition from trust to betrayal
- The robot shoots laser to eliminate players and to disarm the mines
- The robot also uses sound effects such as shooting and scanning sounds to enhance the game experience
