Project background
People with limited capability to speak or connect with music or auditory output miss out on chances to both communicate or experience the pleasure of listening to sounds that are under their control. In earlier Tetra work with York University, a basic system was developed that allowed speaking of specific phrases.
http://talkbox.apps01.yorku.ca/

The purpose of this project would be to create a more advanced system that moves away from paper prompts to ones perhaps on an LCD display; permits easy alteration between spoken phrases, music, auditory books and information; allows movement across the sensor array without lifting one's hand, is miniaturized where possible, and perhaps allows simple games or object movement on an LCD screen.

The client in question may not make use of all of the above options but these would serve for a more universal application.

Your task is to design a compact device which can speak/play a selection aloud with minimal effort from the user. The device should have a database of words, phrases, songs, audio books, etc which the user can choose from. The user must be able to make this selection with limited motor control and movement and limited visual capability. It must be easy to understand for children and customizable.
Past attempts
There was a similar project done in 2021 which can be used for inspiration. https://makerepo.com/project_proposals/193.talk-box
