Contexte du projet
The uOttawa Free Store has one central donation bin currently located in the Learning Crossroads (CRX) building. It is a standard donation bin with a handle at the front top of the bin to open, which you set the donations in, and they drop in the bin. One problem with the bin is that fragile items get smashed when they are dropped into the bin (which is wasteful and dangerous) or people place them beside the bin, and it gets to be messy.
Your task is to design an accessible bin that can be accessed by people using wheelchairs. They should be able to reach the handle with ease to put their donations into. It would be good if there was a way to keep fragile items separate. The bin also has to look good because it will be inside buildings, and we are also trying to prevent people from physically getting inside the bin (a problem in the past). The size of the bin should also be considered, as we do get a lot of donations! It would be great if some type of sensor or notification could be added to inform us when the bin is full.
This project can be prototyped at half scale.
