Many patients in a hospital or the elderly sit in a wheelchair for most of their day. Calling a nurse or a volunteer every time they need to pick something up from the floor can be time consuming and a waste of resources for a task that could be done by the patient. A pick-up stick that could be used from a wheelchair or walker, by people with different strengths, to pick up small objects would make the patients lives more independant and allow nurses to answer more urgent calls.
