Project background
Screen readers help people who are visually impaired to navigate their computers and other electronic devices without assistance. They are however very annoying and tend to get turned off when buttons in a new environment have been memorized. In that case, when a popup appears or a user ends up in an unknown place, it is not possible for them to know what is on the screen. Many sites also use non-selectable text (images or other) which can’t be read by a typical screen reader. Your task is to create a way to activate the screen reader with a voice, gesture or keyboard command so that it can read a selected portion of the screen. It should also be able to decode and read non-selectable text and have shortcuts for features that can be assigned to specific keyboard keys or a gamers mouse. Multi language options would be a plus.
