DESCRIPTION

The proposed aeroponics design is easy to make, relatively cost efficient and extremely efficient at germination of crops. Aeroponics is a form of hydroponics which uses pressure to spray a mist of a nutrient rich solution at the roots of the growing crops. Aeroponics is efficient because it reduces the need for a growth medium which frees the roots up completely allowing for full coverage of the water solution across the surface of the plants' roots. The system we proposed is also a closed loop system meaning that the water is 95% reused and thus infrequently requires refilling of water. The nutrients would need to be resupplied to the system when they are running low, but are also relatively cheap so could be bought in bulk. The system requires a power source of 120VAC at 60 Hz, and produces a stream of water with 300 GPH (gallons per hour).
