DESCRIPTION
Mines Action Canada requires a compact, user-friendly game that effectively conveys the ethical dilemmas posed by lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS) using the Robomaster S1 robot. The game should engage players in a way that elicits strong emotional responses such as frustration, encouraging critical reflection on the dangers of killer robots and fostering negative sentiment towards their use in warfare.
Our Solution:
  • Checkerboard game mat with a number on each square
  • One card with corresponding number placed on each square
  • Rubber ducks placed randomly around board to represent victims of war
  • Players can move to the square in front or horizontal to them, they start at one end of the mat and try to get to the other side while saving all the "victims" (ducks)
  • RoboMaster S1 is placed in the center of the game mat in order to view all players
  • Players must hold up the numbered card when they land on a square, the robot will scan the card and evaluate if the player is safe or not
  • If the robot "shoot" the player, the player is eliminated and must drop any ducks collected
  • Players can collect ducks if they land on a square that has one
  • One player must make it to the other side with all the hostages to win
Estimated cost: 14.25$*
