DESCRIPTION
This project aims to provide a reliable and user-friendly wireless mouse clicker designed for individuals with mobility impairments, particularly for a user who controls their computer cursor with a joystick on a power wheelchair. The clicker system addresses the problem of accessible clicking functionality by enabling left and right clicks through buttons mounted adjacent to the existing joystick. This configuration offers easy access, durability to withstand frequent use, and simple repairability. The project emphasizes portability, functionality, and connectivity to ensure compatibility with various devices.
Assumptions made during design include the wheelchair’s ability to accommodate a custom button attachment and the client’s need for simplicity and durability. Expected challenges include optimizing connectivity for different operating systems and verifying the compatibility of the mounting design with various wheelchair models.
