DESCRIPTION
Our team developed a solar panel recycling system focused on electrostatic separation to support Canada’s shift to a circular economy for photovoltaic (PV) waste. Collaborating with SUNSET Renewables, we designed and prototyped a mechanical and electrical system to efficiently separate materials from end-of-life solar panels. The project addressed growing concerns about solar panel waste and emphasized sustainable material recovery. Our solution was recognized for its innovation and impact, winning first place in the Graduate Project category at the University of Ottawa’s Design Day.
