DESCRIPTION
Harnessing Sustainable Wind Power for Food Security
An innovative project dedicated to advancing renewable energy solutions to support sustainable food storage. Our project focuses on designing and implementing a high-efficiency Savonius wind turbine crafted from repurposed materials, like barrels, to provide reliable power for root cellar environments, particularly in challenging Canadian winter conditions.
Our project goes beyond conventional designs by incorporating a rotating platform with a deflector and a wind vane to align with wind direction, maximizing energy capture. Our turbine integrates seamlessly with other renewable sources like solar, working together to power environmental sensors, automated humidity control, and heat management systems.
Driven by the goal of reducing dependence on grid energy and enhancing local food security, this design embodies a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community resilience. Join us on this journey to create eco-friendly energy solutions that empower local food networks and inspire future projects.
