DESCRIPTION
A solution for bat researchers at Tiree, this bat box and tracking system will aid in the research on endangered bat species in Canada.
This solution combines the design of a traditional bat box with a rocket box, creating a unique construction. The key feature of this bat box is its innovative insulation which utilizes a water jacket that acts a barrier, preventing the bats inside the box from experiencing rapid temperature fluctuations.
The tracking system implements knock sensors on the landing pad to count bats entering as their landing vibrations trigger the sensor. An Arduino saves the data to a micro SD card and is powered by a solar panel.
