DESCRIPTION

Many people who incur arm, hand, and wrist mobility disabilities require tools to assist them in performing common, everyday tasks. However, current accessibility aids cost thousands of dollars, and with limited insurance coverage and government financial assistance, these necessary devices are often unobtainable for patients.

This wheelchair-compatible robotic arm uses 3-D printed parts, a simple architecture, and Arduino-driven servo motors to complete basic tasks such as pressing elevator buttons and gripping small items across a wheelchair tray. The total production cost to develop this device is less than $200, which implies a selling price that will be much more attainable for patients.

This device is also includes Bluetooth technology which allows for remote operation via smartphones, tablets, or laptops.
